How to download RootHide Bootstrap IPA

RootHide Bootstrap was released as an IPA package that can be downloaded and imported into TrollStore 2. Alternatively, use the direct Install to download the app automatically with TrollStore. This feature requires you to enable the URL Scheme from TrollStore Settings. RootHide Bootstrap IPA 1.2.7 Beta is available! Now you can also install Bootstrap on iOS 17.0 with the newly discovered TrollStore installation method for iOS 17.

What is RootHide Bootstrap?

RootHide's Bootstrap empowers users to apply tweaks to nearly all apps, although it currently lacks support for springboard tweaks, including those affecting the Home Screen, Lock Screen, Control Center, or Status Bar.

Nevertheless, you have the option to install apps and jailbreak tweaks designed for system apps, providing configurability directly from the Settings app. This is huge for modern devices on iOS 17.0.

Upon launching the Bootstrap app, select "Install" to initiate the installation of essential apps and files. It provides the flexibility to incorporate various sources into Sileo or Zebra and facilitates the installation of tweaks. It's worth noting that some tweaks may need to be converted to ensure compatibility with Bootstrap.

By default, tweaks are not automatically injected into any apps. To enable tweak injection, navigate to the "App List" section within the Bootstrap app. Here, you can toggle on the specific apps where you wish to activate your tweaks. It's important to note that, currently, injection into SpringBoard is not supported.

Not all tweaks are compatible with RootHide's Bootstrap. A 'Not Updated' message signals that the tweak requires an update to be compatible with Bootstrap. To address this, install the Patcher through Sileo or Zebra package managers compatible with RootHide's Bootstrap. NathanLR Jailbreak offers a better compatibility.

When attempting to install a tweak, select 'Convert.' In the ensuing share sheet, opt for the Patcher app. When converting a tweak to make it Bootstrap-compatible, you have the choice to either directly convert simple tweaks or employ the rootless compact layer. If a tweak doesn't seamlessly convert using the direct method, consider trying the rootless compact layer. It's essential to install rootless-compat as a dependency for this process.

RootHide Bootstrap is available in two branches: the stable 1.2.1, released in February 2024 and not updated since, and the beta 1.2.5, which receives regular updates. The beta version includes new features and various bug fixes, enhancing the platform’s stability. I would recommend you to use the latest beta of RootHide Bootstrap.

How to install tweaks for RootHide Bootstrap

While Bootstrap is great for improving various apps, it doesn’t currently support tweaks for SpringBoard features like the Home Screen, Lock Screen, Control Center, or StatusBar. If you try to install a tweak, you might see a "Not Updated" message, which means the tweak needs an update to be compatible with Bootstrap.

Tweaks for RootHide Bootstrap can be installed through Sileo or Zebra, the two main package managers for adding tweaks. By default, RootHide Bootstrap doesn’t support rootless or rootful tweaks. However, RootHideDev has released a dedicated repository with tweaks that are already converted or compiled for its platform.

Tweaks for RootHide Bootstrap.

Sileo installed with RootHide Bootstrap is a special version customized by RootHideDev to enhance the user experience. This modified version runs much faster than the original Sileo, especially when refreshing repositories, and it offers additional features like integration with the RootHide Patcher app.

Some repositories aren't compatible with Sileo but offer dedicated arm64e tweaks for RootHide Bootstrap. One such repository is NiceiOS, which provides tweaks like NiceBarX, NiceCaller, NiceLogX, and NiceRecorder. To access these tweaks, add the NiceiOS repository to Zebra instead of Sileo and install the tweaks from there.

Additionally, to enable tweak support on RootHide Bootstrap, you need to install some third-party packages. These include ElleKit, Legacy arm64e Support, rootless-compat, PreferenceLoader, and CCSupport.

How to inject tweaks with RootHide Bootstrap

RootHide Bootstrap doesn't enable tweak by default when installed through the Sileo or Zebra package managers. To enable a tweak you must allow tweak injection into an system app, or app installed via App Store.

To enable tweaks for an app, open the Bootstrap app from your Home Screen and go to the App List. From there, you can inject tweaks into both apps and system services. This injection is global, meaning you don’t have control over which tweak accesses which app. You can enable only all tweaks per app or service.

For example, to see tweak prefs in the Settings app, you need to enable injection for com.apple.Preferences. Enabling tweaks for specific apps is straightforward — just search for the app by name. However, injecting tweaks into system services can be more challenging, as their names can be harder to find.

Be aware that RootHide Bootstrap doesn’t support tweak injection into SpringBoard. This means tweaks that affect the Status Bar, Control Center, Home Screen, or Lock Screen won't work. However, there is a workaround using Serotonin Jailbreak for iOS 16.0 through 16.6.1 that works with the Bootstrap and system SpringBoard.

RootHide Patcher for tweak compatibility

RootHide Patcher, developed by RootHideDev, is a tool designed for the Bootstrap ecosystem that converts tweaks into the arm64e format, making them compatible with the platform. Essentially, this app can easily adapt simple tweaks to work with Bootstrap. More advanced tweaks may also function properly, thanks to the Rootless Compatibility Layer.

Of course, it's better when a tweak developer compiles a tweak specifically for RootHide Bootstrap, as it's not too complicated to do. However, some tweaks haven't been updated in years. In those cases, RootHide Patcher can often successfully convert them without needing any source code or tweak development knowledge. While it won't work with all tweaks, it's a valuable option to have available.

RootHide Patcher

RootHide Patcher also offers some advanced options for users to choose from. Importantly, RootHideDev has integrated RootHide Patcher with Sileo. This means that if you download an incompatible tweak, Sileo will inform you and provide the option to send the downloaded DEB file to RootHide Patcher for conversion.
