Vidnerix
Safari is the default browser on my iPhone. While there are other options available, I prefer using the stock browser developed by Apple. One of the features it lacks is the ability to download embedded video files from websites. However, with the Vidnerix tweak, you can add this feature to Safari.
Vidnerix Repository
Vidnerix was released by foxfortmobile as a paid package available for purchase from Havoc Store at $2.99. Add the official repository of Vidnerix and install the Video Downloader tweak for Safari on iOS 15.0 – iOS 16.7.8.
Overview
Vidnerix is a jailbreak tweak that enables the Safari browser to download both mp4 and m3u8 videos. What's more, the tweak will automatically transcode m3u8 videos into mp4. All in the background.
It's important to note that the Vidnerix tweak can only download unprotected videos. It does not support downloading DRM-encrypted videos from services like Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Apple TV+, Amazon Prime, etc. Additionally, downloading live video streams is not supported.
The Vidnerix tweak only works in the main Safari app and will not load in the 'in-app Safari' inside other apps. You can also download the currently open stream. There is no option to select different video resolutions, so be sure to use the desired resolution on the website before playback to download.
To ensure downloads continue in the background, do not manually kill the Safari app. Simply switch to other apps, and the downloads will keep going. If Safari is forcefully closed by the user, all downloads will stop.
Once installed, the Vidnerix tweak adds a dedicated preference section to the Settings app. From here, you can enable the tweak and configure some basic options. You can choose where to save the downloaded video files (Files app or Photos app), enable notifications, and skip the download options UI.
Vidnerix works on modern rootless jailbreaks including Palera1n and Dopamine. You can easily download and use the tweak with iOS & iPadOS 15 and 16. Older firmware are not supported.
One more thing: when downloading videos from an m3u8 format, the tweak can't determine the final size of the video file. The displayed download size will only be an approximation and might differ from the actual final size.
Other than that, Vidnerix is a great video downloader for Safari that lets you save videos for offline viewing. This is really handy if you know you'll be without internet or have a slow connection where you're going.
