What is TDS Video?

TDS Video is a new app that offers some great features for CarPlay displays without the need of jailbreak or any exploits. Aidan Dye, the developer behind the project, discovered that using the screen recording feature its possible to stream the video to the CarPlay component.

This way you can cast your iPhone screen to the CarPlay display in real time and watch videos from YouTube, stream MP4 files, open any app installed on your iPhone, and even browse the web. The interface is not touchable on your CarPlay, but you can use your iPhone as a pilot.

The app's early test interface prioritizes function over style — it’s not the sleekest or most intuitive, but it reliably gets the job done. Aidan is actively refining the app, with plans for a smarter design, better settings, and new features to enhance usability. Unlike other apps, TDS Video can play Video on CarPlay.

TDS Video for iOS

First version of the app allowed only to broadcast the iPhone screen recording to your CarPlay display. However, a new version dropped adding some great features like the option to download and play a video, and the possibility to load a Web View to browse webpages, or change screen orientation.

On the main screen of the TDS Video App, you can view all step-by-step instructions on how to use it. There are instructions for screen mirroring and loading a Web View.

Tip: By default, the TDS Video app loads a CarPlay interface designed for cars with the steering wheel on the right side (like in the UK). To switch it to a left-side setup, adjust the configuration in the Settings app for the TDS Video app. Update TDS Video App to the latest version!
