PurePKG package manager for iOS updated to version 1.5

PurePKG

Several Package Managers are available for iOS, enabling jailbreak users to install tweaks and apps sourced from diverse repositories. Notable among these are Cydia, which has fallen into disuse and obsolescence, and Sileo, a contemporary alternative that receives sporadic updates. Emerging as a promising contender is PurePKG, a novel initiative dedicated to modern jailbreaks operating on iOS 15 and beyond.

Repository

PurePKG has been made available as a DEB package via the official PurePKG Repository, offering installation compatibility with your Bootstrapped iOS device (accessible through jailbreak or RootHide) running iOS 15 or later. This package manager is compiled to support arm, arm64, and arm64e architectures, specifically tailored for iOS devices, with dedicated versions also available for watchOS, visionOS, Apple TV, and TrollStore platforms.

What is PurePKG?

PurePKG emerges as a package manager tailored for iOS 15 and beyond, injecting a breath of fresh air into the process of installing and overseeing packages within jailbroken environments. Rather than attempting to overhaul the traditional approach to package management on iOS devices, PurePKG distinguishes itself by presenting a sleek, polished interface adorned with animations, and extending its support across all platforms within the Apple ecosystem.

Upon installation, PurePKG promptly retrieves a selection of the most popular repositories, facilitating the exploration of the latest tweaks and applications tailored for jailbroken devices. Within the "Featured" tab, users can peruse the most recent additions to their repositories.

After choosing a tweak, users are greeted with a comprehensive description and the option to seamlessly begin the installation process. Additionally, PurePKG features a built-in repository browser, allowing users to explore packages offered by added repositories. Furthermore, a search engine is available to facilitate the discovery of desired tweaks.

As a contemporary package manager, PurePKG boasts a plethora of useful features. These include the ability to select the desired version of a package for installation when multiple versions are available. It also supports URL Schemes for seamlessly adding new repositories to the browser. Additionally, PurePKG offers repository signature verification, a feature inherited from Sileo, ensuring the integrity and authenticity of added repositories.

In its initial release, PurePKG provides a modest selection of configuration options. Users can access these settings from the settings page, where they have the ability to customize various visual elements. Options include changing the background and accent colors, replacing the default icon, and modifying in-app icons, among others.

PurePKG Package Manager for iOS has been launched as an open-source initiative under the GPL-3.0 license. Its source code is accessible through the GitHub Repository, with the majority of the app interface crafted using the Swift programming language.

The project is currently in its early stages, receiving frequent updates on a daily basis. It holds promise in delivering a highly customizable iOS package manager tailored for users seeking a truly modern jailbreak experience. With a focus on customization, PurePKG aims to cater to the needs of individuals desiring a fresh and innovative approach within the jailbreaking community.
