PinAnim tweak brings life to PIN code dots on iOS 14

PinAnim

We are used to unlocking new iPhones with Touch ID or Face ID but when you still use a PIN code there was released recently a new tweak that brings animation to the dots. PinAnim tweak delivers smooth animations making it fun to watch while typing the PIN.

Add PinAnim Repo to your package manager.

What is PinAnim?

PinAnim is a free jailbreak tweak created by Matthew Anisovich that brings animations to PIN code dots on iOS 14. This free tweak is fun to use and what's more, it's a great playground to learn how to create your own jailbreak tweaks. PinAnim tweak works on iOS 13 and iOS 14.

Once installed, the PinAnim tweak adds a dedicated preference pane to the Settings app from where you can configure all available options to your liking including enabling or disabling the tweak on demand and selecting animations, among other things.

PinAnim tweak comes with four animation styles for the PIN code dots such as Bounce, Scale, Hidden, and Stay. All animations look great. From tweaks settings, you can also enable or disable an unlock animation and enable or disable a backspace (delete) animation.

The developer provided also options to adjust the animation amplification level via a slider, adjust the animation speed level via a slider, and choose a preferred transition from Ease Out, Ease In, Ease In Out, and Linear. PinAnim is a simple tweak but it adds freshness to your iPhone.

Matthew Anisovich put an additional effort not only to release the tweak as an open source project but also created an article explaining the development process of creating this amazing free tweak. You can learn from it and get started with developing your own tweaks.

Repository

PinAnim was created originally as a paid one-dollar tweak but the developer decided to release it for free through the Havoc Repository. Add the official PinAnim Repo to your package manager and enable some nice-looking animation into PIN code dots.

  1. Open the Cydia app from Home Screen and tap on the Sources tab.
  2. Tap on Edit → Add buttons and enter https://havoc.app Repo URL.
  3. Install the PinAnim package from the newly added repository.
  4. To apply all changes respiring your iPhone.
  5. Configure the PinAnim from the preference pane added to the Settings app.

Alternatively, please use the quick links available at the top of this page to add the repository to your favorite package manager (Cydia, Sileo, Installer, Zebra) with just one tap.

Source Code

PinAnim is an open-source tweak for iOS released through the official GitHub Repository. It was mostly written in Swift language, but there are also some parts using Objective-C. What's more, the developer created a detailed tutorial on how this tweak was made from scratch.

If you are interested in learning on how to create your tweaks and especially how to hook into system parts PinAnim is a great playground for that. To compile the PinAnim source code yourself is required to download and use theos libraries. The tweak uses also iOS 14.5 SDK.
