GoodWiFi tweak enhances Wi-Fi Preferences on iOS 15
While accessing the Internet by connecting to nearby Wi-Fi networks is made easy through the Wi-Fi Preferences, there's much more happening in the background that remains unseen. With a jailbreak tweak such as GoodWiFi, you can uncover additional details about these connections, offering greater control over wireless connectivity.
What is GoodWiFi?
GoodWiFi is a simple jailbreak tweak that highly enhances details about Wi-Fi networks directly in the Wi-Fi configuration pane in Settings app. This tweak displays additional information about nearby Wi-Fi networks such as MAC Address, used channel, Wi-Fi Protected Access, and signal strength. GoodWiFi tweak supports iOS 10 – iOS 15, including Dopamine jailbreak.
Once the installation process of GoodWiFi tweak is complete, a dedicated preference pane will be added to the Settings app. Through this pane, not only can you enable the tweak, but you can also toggle several options, including removing the RSSI limit, showing known networks, displaying MAC addresses, and resetting all settings to their default values.
The tweak displays additional data about discovered Wi-Fi networks like MAC Address. A Media Access Control address is a unique identifier assigned to a network interface controller (NIC) for use as a network address in communications within a network segment.
Furthermore, you can also view Wi-Fi used channel. In Wi-Fi, channels are used to define the frequency range that wireless signals can use to communicate between devices. Wi-Fi channels are typically numbered from 1 to 14, with each channel using a specific frequency range.
There is also an option to display RSSI. Received Signal Strength Indicator is a measure of the signal strength received by a Wi-Fi device from an access point (AP) or router. The RSSI value is typically represented as a negative number, with lower values indicating a weaker signal and higher values indicating a stronger signal.
GoodWiFi tweak was initially launched by Julio Verne, with compatibility ranging from iOS 10 to iOS 14. As an open-source project, an unofficial version was subsequently released to support rootless jailbreaks, including XinaA15, Fugu15 Max, and Dopamine for iOS 15.
